BOYS FOOTBALL

Fall Athletics

Highlights

The Black Knights finished a tough season with a record of 8 wins and 4 losses, earning 4th place in the conference; another job well done Coach Washington! However, 2008 was also a challenging year as it began with many questions. In many respects, it was a rebuilding year after loosing so much talent, experience and leadership from the prior year’s team; however, last years underclassmen truly stepped up and put together a great season of their own. Even though we all suffered that heart-breaking overtime loss to arch-rival Polk, there was definitely something to be said about this team’s commitment to success, excellence and beating the odds.

Finally, congratulations go out to this year’s Black Knights MVP and MIP. This year’s MVP was Grover Cleveland, sophomore quarterback who recorded an astounding 1,538 total passing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns and only 3 interceptions (zero fumbles). His precision passing game and careful protecting of the football was integral in our team’s success. This year’s MIP was John Adams, junior wide receiver who recorded 784 receiving yards and led the team with a staggering 13 yards after catch; what more can be said, he just wouldn’t go down!
