Odyssey Interactive Introduces New Batch-Uploading System for Creating MyYearbookBuilder Student, Faculty and Staff Accounts

New Milford, Connecticut (May 1, 2012) – Odyssey Interactive, the nation’s leading publisher of digital yearbooks for high school, middle school and college, is excited to announce the introduction of batch-uploading for MyYearbookBuilder, which allows yearbook administrators to more quickly and easily generate student, faculty and staff yearbook accounts from a simple spreadsheet.

MyYearbookBuilder supports importing contact information and account details using comma-separated value (CSV) format; alternatively, yearbook administrators can still allow any student to open his or her own account manually, if preferred.

“Over the past year, we’ve been carefully listening to our customer’s valuable feedback,” said Joseph Durdock, Founder and Chief Executive at Odyssey Interactive. “It’s been routinely brought to our attention that life would be a lot easier if administrators could create accounts in bulk and distribute yearbook credentials, rather than having students work through the account creation process on their own; thus eliminating extra steps and sources of confusion.”

MyYearbookBuilder batch-uploading simplifies the account generation process, saves time during the initial phase of production and eliminates the need to train or assist students on the account creation process, which allows schools to get into the production phase more quickly. Additionally, by utilizing batch-upload to generate yearbook accounts, advisors eliminate the need to publically distribute sensitive information that could potentially result in the creation of an unauthorized account.

In order to complete a batch-upload, yearbook administrators need only download a CSV template and add all appropriate user information, along with setting initial user names and start-up passwords, which can be changed by the actual end-user at a later date. Once the data in the CSV file has been populated on a computer, it is transferred to the database server via FTP in the MyYearbookBuilder admin account.

The batch-uploading capability is a standard feature whose utilization is optional. It can be used in conjunction with the manual account creation process or entirely in its place, and the batch-upload can be used to open a few accounts, a few thousand accounts or even more.

“In an on-going effort to make our production environment both more efficient and user-friendly, we continue to enhance our user’s experience by integrating time-saving and cost-cutting improvements like batch-upload,” said Andrew Edwards, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “But in addition to the immediate benefits of simplifying the user account creation process, improvements like these also enhance our overall security and system integrity, and are the direct result of our commitment to industry-defining customer service and support.”
